I often  hear or read this question. Brian, you’re in multiple level or network marketing. How do I pick the right company? There are so many out there and I want to avoid the scams.

It goes without saying, we all want to avoid scams. Most MLMs are honest companies. However, that does not make them successful. If they’re not successful, chances are you won’t be.

I believe there are ten (10) things you should look for if you want to be successful in network marketing. The following list is a check list, not a priority list. Actually, #1 is my most important in the criteria hierarchy:

1)  Mentor(s) who can provide life business skills. Yes, they must be able to train you on how to do the business. It is vitally important that the company have mentors to help you achieve your financial and life aspirations. They will lead by example on how to be an excellent, principled business person/entrepreneur.

2)  Company with an ethical ownership. Avoid companies with a tendency to change their compensation plan.

3)  The company should have a long and strong track record. MLM companies come and go like Hollywood relationships. You want a company that’s been around for at least 5-8 years.

4)  A company that has products/services, you will continue to use even if you jump ship or quit.

5)  The company should have an excellent compensation plan.
